Gunner Charles Branton to His Wife, 12th Battalion, Royal Artillery, National Army Museum 1993–02–243.

Charles Branton was a semi-literate gunner serving in the 4^th Company of the 12^th Battalion of the Royal Artillery. He took part in the second, third, fourth, fifth, and final bombardments of the city of Sevastopol. Branton was slightly wounded in a minor action on 30 August 1855, but seems to have survived the war. His spelling has been retained in the letters to his wife below, and punctuation added for clarity.
