ABSTRACT

William Munro (b. 1818) was the surgeon for the 93rd (Sutherland Highlanders) Regiment of Foot for thirteen years, serving in that capacity throughout the Crimean War and the subsequent uprising in India. In 1867 he left the regiment to become the Deputy-Inspector-General of Hospitals, and then in 1876, he became Surgeon-General. Munro retired in 1881.
