ABSTRACT
There are a great many soldiers’ wives at this place, most of whom are in a very deplorable condition from over-anxiety and want of rest. The poor creatures stand the life they are by necessity called upon to lead with apparent cheerfulness, but it is easy to see that the cheerful looks put on have nothing to do with their inward feelings.
