ABSTRACT
This chapter examines the second language acquisition of regional, or geographically determined, variation. The chapter synthesizes the research conducted to date on the acquisition of regionally variable structures by second language learners, pointing out areas of study that are still lacking and, in turn, suggesting recommendations for both practice and future research.
