ABSTRACT

E-commerce has been a major contributor to global economic development. Its dynamism has been one of the core business platforms in the digital economy, and its importance is increasing due to the fast-growing trend of Internet users in the world. E-commerce involved the transmission of personal data. For example, when you order a shirt from Amazon, open an account in Gmail, or purchase an airline ticket online, you provide your name, address, phone number, and credit card number. During the process, your personal data will be saved in the server of the vendor and could be transferred across countries depending on where the server is located. If your vital information falls into the wrong hands, information may be misused and you risk being harmed. Here, the issue is how to protect personal data. It involves issues concerning legal obligations, regulations, and/or guidelines.
