ABSTRACT
While few would deny the importance of Alasdair MacIntyre’s contribution to contemporary ethics and philosophy, he remains an eminently controversial figure. To someone who is not familiar with his whole body of work, MacIntyre will most likely be associated with a hostile and dismissive attitude towards concepts that occupy a central role in modern social and political life, such as natural rights.
