ABSTRACT

Over a period of five years, from 2013 to 2018, University College London (UCL) in the UK made significant changes to its institutional strategy and, in particular, to its educational vision. It developed a whole new set of approaches to ‘integrating research and teaching, for an inspirational student experience’ (UCL, 2018a). By 2018, Faculty members, professional colleagues and students alike were engaged with a new characterisation of ‘research-based education’, whereby students at all levels of the curriculum would connect creatively with researchers and learn through research and enquiry. Practices were changing, and students were collaborating with faculty to introduce exciting new educational opportunities.
