ABSTRACT

The volume of property owned, leased and occupied by local authorities and its scale, value and importance is often underestimated. This is perhaps partly due to a lack of central information within existing authorities since property on its own is not a service provider rather, in the context of local government, it is simply a tool used by every service providing department. And yet, without the correct type, size and location of property that service would suffer in delivery, quality and cost.
