ABSTRACT

132 133For Goodson, if there is to be political change the start is with one’s own subjectivity. But that of course is only part of the story. Having a stock of narratives constitutes narrative capital, both for one’s self and one’s sense of subjective identity and for group, community and human identity. This stock of narratives has to be ‘interrogated’ if change is to take place. There are two broad families of narratives in Goodson’s work on education and professional knowledge, the policy and the work-life that were explored through the European Union (EU) funded Profknow Project (2003–2009).
