ABSTRACT

As academics teaching undergraduate and postgraduate midwifery programmes we have found there are very limited texts related to decision-making for midwives. What is offered has predominately been ‘borrowed’ from other disciplines so not grounded within midwifery philosophy. Following completion of our PhDs, exploring women’s choices in maternity care and midwifery decision-making, we have continued to work in the national and international decision-making space and come together to explore this issue.
