ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with the air pollution conditions in Europe and their possible effects on the future development of the forest resources. A timber-assessment model has been developed for the analysis of the future wood-supply in Europe. From this model, a number of scenarios have been produced. These scenarios are both with and without the effects of air pollutants. A special dose response model has been employed to estimate the decline effects at different rates of air pollutant depositions. The aggregated results presented deal with future wood supply, economic impact and policy implications.
