ABSTRACT

Field notes are the notes taken by the crime scene investigator while on a scene or processing evidence in the lab. Field notes are imperative to an investigator when writing the final report. The field notes should be written in an organized fashion that the CSI can understand and interpret for their own purposes when they need to refer to them for the report. Field notes should include all pertinent information from the scene, including the date, time, weather, location, and any scene details that are needed for the report.
