Review of the Debate over the Origins of Latin American Industrialization and Its Ideological Context

The origins of industrial development in Latin America have increasingly drawn the attention of numerous historians, sociologists, and economic historians. In my view, this new focus is both a symptom and a result of the weakening of the ideological and theoretical trends that in one way or another have characterized the Latin American political and intellectual environment.
