ABSTRACT
The chapters that constitute the present volume provide important insights into the operations of the U.S. labor market in recent decades. These insights are informed by research into selected changes in the U.S. economy, with a strong focus on the urban scene as well as special emphasis on the transformations under way in New York, the nation's leading city. In this summary chapter selected findings from these research investigations will be analyzed to determine their implications for future employment policy.
