ABSTRACT
The generality of any concept in ecology is improved if it is evaluated in both time and space. The contrast and comparison of Australian and U.S. range assessment concepts and methods provides an excellent evaluation in space, encompassing a wide range of climates, vegetation structures, and land-use systems.
