ABSTRACT
Advances in research and technology along with the level of education in the United States have contributed greatly to that nation's development. The United States has historically placed heavy emphasis on research, technological advances, and education in agriculture and related natural resource fields. Will this emphasis continue to be in the best interests of the United States as the twentieth century closes and the problems and opportunities of the twenty-first must be dealt with?
