Can Voluntary Efforts Replace Regulation?

Studies show that up to one-half of the 1.4 billion prescriptions dispensed each year in the United States are taken incorrectly. If this is true, the health consequences can be profound: prolonged illness, unnecessary side effects and avoidable interactions. The economic consequences are also profound if American consumers are not getting full benefit of their $13 billion annual investment in such medicines.
