ABSTRACT

Behavioral scientists, specifically police psychologists, play an integral role in law enforcement today. Large metropolitan law enforcement agencies like the Dallas, Boston, and Los Angeles Police Departments staff behavioral scientists in the capacity of police psychologists and organizational development and human factors/human performance consultants (Davis, 1995; Reiser, 1972a). Many behavioral scientists who possess specialized training beyond their traditional clinical training can effectively assist law enforcement management and various other personnel, such as directors of police training academies, to enhance their day-to-day operations and performances of each department and staff member.
