ABSTRACT

It has been an absolute privilege to be involved with this book and to read the work of these authors. The word ‘research’ has, until recently, filled many teachers, including myself, with fear – having visions of thousands of questionnaires and complicated statistical analysis. These chapters demonstrate that this is not the case, with each showing that research can be small-scale, practical and relevant to what is happening in our classrooms – an activity that teachers can carry out without a negative impact on their workload.
