ABSTRACT
A person sits at a desk wearing a white mask, although it is not tied on. The mask appears to be a cast from a face. Above is a high-corniced ceiling, behind are bookshelves, papers and pens, and walls covered in images. The person’s hair is 124short, dark, and spikey, the jaw firm: this person is most likely young. Considering the setting, the hair, along with the mask’s contours, the person is likely to be ‘white’. Although the look is androgynous, there is a suggestion of a female breast. It’s me. At the time of the photograph in the early 1980s, I was a student at home during the holidays.
