ABSTRACT
The present chapter builds on the report on the implementation of the recommendations contained in the report of the Advisory Group of Experts (AGE) for the 2015 Review of the United Nations Peacebuilding Architecture (PBA), which the author prepared in his capacity as chair and later updated for the Future UN Development System Project (FUNDS). 1 Almost half a decade after the presentation of the AGE report, there have been other more significant developments. They include the adoption of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, 2 and Secretary-General António Guterres’s reform proposals, notably those touching on the peace and security pillar, 3 all in the context of a deteriorating international environment toward multilateral diplomacy in general, and the United Nations in particular.
