ABSTRACT

In popular parlance, “conflict” has been associated with tensions surrounding decisions on various issues and in general terms, it “has been stretched and molded to refer to any discord in any social situation” (Jeong, 2008, p.6). Attempting to illustrate the complexity of conflict, Hartwick and Barki (2002, p.4) state that some scholars

equate conflict with disagreement or differences of opinion; some see it as antagonistic or hostile behavior; others view it as a mixture of negative emotions like anxiety, jealousy, frustration and anger; and still others treat conflict as some combination of the above.
