ABSTRACT

This paper matches habitat requirements and design with a spectrum of future manned space missions which could be undertaken in the next two decades. The spectrum starts with manned support systems which can augment shuttle capability, including a Manned Remote Work Station and tended Shuttle Space Platforms, and extends to Space Construction Base applications for Solar Power Satellite construction. Options for low earth orbit and geosynchronous operations are presented, along with techniques for handling emergency and rescue operations.
