ABSTRACT
Alaska, the last frontier, has captivated the attention of some of the most ambitious minds in recent times. If the patterns of development evidenced historically can condition the potential development of the state, then it is safe to argue that dependent development will continue to occur here until there are no more relatively cheap resources left to exploit. In this article, we shall attempt to provide an alternative perspective on the potential development of rural Alaska.
