ABSTRACT

Over the years, health services have been provided along with family planning in various health care settings. Only recently, however, has there been concerted effort to identify selected health interventions that can be combined effectively with family planning efforts for dissemination in community-based distribution (CBD) contraceptive programs. The purpose of this paper is to summarize the potential for CBD programs to distribute a wide range of health services that have as a common denominator their relevance to primary health care. A number of specific interventions (excluding those discussed in separate workshop papers) and a general framework for intervention selection will be discussed.
