ABSTRACT

The teachers are prime movers in education delivery. Their attitudes, inclinations, and competencies will, to a large measure, determine the quality and operation of an educational enterprise. Priority should therefore be given to teacher training and the management of the teaching service. There is an urgent need to develop in-service programs of different kinds to help teachers improve their professional competencies. Similarly, the preservice teacher training programs should be improved and revamped to respond to the critical demands of participatory learning
