ABSTRACT

Iam a lecturer in Namibian languages at Ongwediva College of Education (OCE), which is the largest of four colleges in Namibia. Our college runs a program called Basic Education Teacher Diploma (BETD). I teach both Oshikwanyama and Oshindonga, two of the languages of my region which are taught as subjects in all grades and act as medium of instruction in the lower primary grades, one through four. My classes include first-year and third-year student teachers, and my job is to develop their language and teaching skills.
