ABSTRACT
This volume is the product of a symposium held at the 1985 annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). The symposium provided a forum to discuss from various perspectives—scientific, economic, social, legislative—the safety and desirability of releasing genetically engineered organisms into the environment.
