ABSTRACT
Geographically, the South China region consists of four local economies: the British colony of Hong Kong (which will return to China on 1 July 1997), the Chinese provinces of Guangdong and Fujian, and Taiwan, which was colonized by Japan and has been under the Guomindang (KMT) government since 1949.
