ABSTRACT
No formal relationship of any kind exists between the IMF and the commercial banks. Members of the IMF and the World Bank, which was founded at the same time under the Bretton Woods Agreement, are sovereign states. Neither the 1944 Agreement nor the subsequent supplements to it provide for the possibility of membership or association of legal or natural persons. Moreover, there does not exist any contractual relationship whatsoever between the IMF and commercial banks.
