ABSTRACT

The training and work of the clinical forensic specialist is discussed along with his responsibilities to the police authority and to the complainant and accused (prisoner). The value of medical examination and collection of forensic specimens from victims and accused persons by a specialist medical practitioner is emphasized. Details of medical examination and methods of collection of specimens for forensic examination, the storage and transport of these specimens are given, with special reference to sexual assault. The age and origin of wounds and the estimation of time of death is briefly discussed. The content of a sexual offense kit will be shown and discussed.
