ABSTRACT
Infectious diseases are intimately associated with several general factors such as socioeconomic level, environmental influences (household sanitation, water supply), educational achievement, access to health care, and geographical location, among others. 1 As a group, Hispanics in the United States have a significant proportion of their population living under suboptimal conditions or whose travel to or immigration from countries places them at risk for a greater frequency and severity from infectious diseases. 2
