ABSTRACT

In this chapter, Jean A. Mendoza and Lilian G. Katz link the project approach with inquiry-based nature education. They describe the overall value of using the project approach to promote children’s nature learning, the specific phases of the project approach, and the particular benefits and challenges of using the project approach for early childhood nature education. Mendoza and Katz also provide a range of examples to illustrate the possibilities for both beginning and veteran teachers to begin and deepen nature teaching through the project approach.
