ABSTRACT

The above report from the influential Union Leader in Manchester, New Hampshire, would not seem unusual given the Granite State’s important place at the beginning of the presidential selection process; any potential candidate looking to win his or her party’s nomination for the presidency must court New Hampshire voters. The important aspect of this report is not the activity, but the date-this appeared in the Union Leader on September 1, 2004, a full four years and two months before the 2008 election, and two months before the election being contested at the time between George W. Bush and John Kerry.
