ABSTRACT

The 2007 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports skyrocketing atmospheric, greenhouse gases. Atmospheric carbon dioxide rose from around 280 ppm, in pre-industrial revolution days, to current levels of around 385 ppm. They are continuing to rise by around 3 ppm per year, and scientists have estimated that when CO2 levels reach 450 ppm (in about 20 years at current rates), irreversible atmospheric temperature rise will occur. The initial effects of climate change are already beginning to bite.
