ABSTRACT

Globalization has become embedded in our everyday language. Referencing a rapidly changing world, globalization is open to multiple definitions, interpretations and misunderstandings. One common rendition points to our world shrunken by changing demographics, advanced communications, supersonic transportation and space age technology. The internet, the fax and indeed the jetliner can rapidly transport you, your thoughts and your goods to the other side of the planet. Hoogvelt (1997) argues, we have crossed into a “new social architecture.”
