ABSTRACT
Anthropology and education is an interdisciplinary field rooted in 19th-Century anthropology that gradually grew into a field of its own through the 20th Century as anthropologists and educators used notions of culture to examine formal and informal educational settings. It may also be referred to in the literature as educational anthropology or the anthropology of education. All three labels designate the same scholarly community.
