ABSTRACT

Relationships between the United States and Latin America deserve more attention than they get. The subject might seem boring at rst glance. There have recently been no major crises, wars, or revolutions. Developments within the region have little impact on global geopolitics. American presidents and leaders pay scant attention to the region, even as they possess the power to exert their will whenever they want. Consequently, interactions between Latin America and the United States appear to lack theoretical and practical importance.
