ABSTRACT
A couple of years ago, I studied an undergraduate program at a university in Beijing, People’s Republic of China (PRC). One of my roommates belonged to a Chinese minority group, the Mongols. We lived in a standard Chinese university student room-a tiny and crowded living space for six. Like the rest of us, this Mongol student spoke Mandarin, went to the same classrooms, and ate in the same canteen.
