ABSTRACT

As discussed in other chapters, bullying in today’s society has become a social problem that can be emotionally, financially, and legally expensive to both individuals and organizations. It is actually a form of workplace violence, albeit level 1 – the lowest form – of violence (for a discussion of the levels of workplace violence, see Baron, 1993; Van Fleet and Van Fleet, 2010). Most research, though, has focused on particular types of bullying, such as school-age bullying and “sexual harassment.”
