ABSTRACT

What can be done to address bullying in the workplace? Is it worthwhile to provide interventions for the perpetrator, the victim, or both? Is workplace bullying a larger systemic issue to be addressed beyond the individual or dyad? As discussed in earlier chapters, the workplace is a complex social environment with changing status relations, expectations, and politics. Negotiating bullying, like all interpersonal relations in this context, depends on multiple factors and levels within the ecological system, as discussed in Chapter 7, and not simply a particular individual or dyad. Similarly, interventions for workplace bullying may be addressed at different levels and with different methods within the organizational system.
