ABSTRACT

Older adults represent a growing proportion of the U.S. population, and demographic shifts will continue to influence population aging for decades to come. Moreover, the proportion of ethnically diverse older adults is increasing rapidly due to the aging of racial and ethnic minorities. Individuals aged 65 and over make up about 9% of the total Arab ancestry population in the U.S. (Brittingham & de la Cruz, 2005), resulting in 135,000 to 333,000 Arab Americans in that age range. Arab Americans, nevertheless, are relatively youthful in comparison to the general U.S. population due to immigration trends and a higher birth rate (Asi & Beaulieu, 2013).
