ABSTRACT

The integration of technology into higher education has become pervasive over the past two decades with growing opportunities for distance education programmes, a greater availability of information and content through electronic sources, as well as the integration of technology as a method of communication through learning platforms (such as Blackboard), social media and mobile applications. While these uses of technology obviously provide greater access to education, more information and ease of communication, it remains a question as to how technology can be used to enhance the education process providing higher forms of learning to enable students to address complex challenges and issues not readily addressed based on memorization or having the ability to restate what has been presented to them in the classroom.
