ABSTRACT

As a pastor, I know that pastors need faith too, perhaps even more than the laity. My experience as a pastor is as a campus pastor, a graduate of clinical pastoral education, and a professor of bioethics. Officially, I have served forty-two years with an appointment from my bishop every year. My motivation came from my conversion, a direct encounter with Jesus Christ at age sixteen that transformed me. I became a new person committed to the Kingdom of God on earth. As a consequence of my conversion, even my grades in high school improved enough for me to gain admission to Albion College in Michigan. My campus life there showed me the need for, and the crucial importance of, the campus ministry. In spite of the decline of campus ministry in recent decades, the need exists now more than ever.
