ABSTRACT
To understand Trinidad's gift to the world, the steelband, one must understand the island and its people. Trinidad, the Trinity, is the home of a rhythmic force that drives the people and the culture: a pitting of three against two, heard in the music, seen in the life, found in the history. The concept of the Trinity confronts the duality of a twin island republic, Trinidad and Tobago.
