ABSTRACT

I was fortunate to be among that group of pioneers, and this chapter is a reflection on my personal exploration of the mysteries and challenges of understanding adolescent development. I began my journey in the 1940s at the Yale Medical School, known for its strengths in Pediatrics and Behavioral Sciences, and for its unique Child Study Center. It was a truly a time of new frontiers in adolescent medicine and the school’s stimulating atmosphere inspired thought-provoking investigation.
