ABSTRACT

What does the transnational perspective bring to the study of international organizations (IOs)? What are the benefi ts and the shortcomings of adopting such an approach? This chapter answers these questions through the assessment of The Palgrave Dictionary of Transnational History (2009) and the League of Nations Online Search Engine (LONSEA). They represent two of the newest and most interesting academic endeavours for the study of the history of IOs, which adopt an overtly transnational perspective.
