ABSTRACT

A sprawling city located on the Patapsco River, which fl ows into the Chesapeake Bay, Baltimore is hot and humid in the summer, often uncomfortably so. But today is not bad for late July. Muggy, yes, but only 78°F and overcast. It’s mid-morning, almost 10:00 AM, and I’m walking on South Howard Street heading toward Emory Street to visit the Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum, which is just a few blocks west of Oriole Park at Camden Yards, where the Orioles play baseball-usually poorly, at least for the last twelve years, much to my disappointment as a life-long O’s fan.
