Student Motivation in Large-Scale Assessments

The word motivation is used frequently in daily conversation. We tend to use it when referring to our enthusiasm to engage in an action. Similarly, in the field of education, we use the word motivation when referring to enthusiasm or reasons behind our actions or behaviors. In the context of large-scale education assessment, however, this commonly used word takes on a specific meaning.
