ABSTRACT
Large-scale studies in education have made a significant mass of relative data available relating to ability levels in diverse disciplines among the student populations of several countries. These surveys have also provided diverse contextual data specific to the students, their parents, their teachers, and their school or education system. These data permit us to study the relationship between contextual variables and the academic performance of the students.
